Chairman Currie Keynotes Fundraiser

For Mayor Steve Ellis, Council Candidates Stettner, Clark

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (May 5, 2019)—The Phillipsburg Democratic Committee hosted New Jersey State Democratic Chairman John Currie today at a fundraiser for Phillipsburg Mayor Steve Ellis and town council candidates JP Stettner and Lee Clark.

Chairman Currie praised the Phillipsburg Democrats for their work in building the Democratic party in Warren County and pledged the state party’s support for the campaign.

“Mayor Ellis, I want you to know that we support you, we have your back,” Chairman Currie said. “We are here for you,” he said.

“It was a great honor to have Chairman Currie here in Phillipsburg supporting our campaign. We are so grateful for him taking the time to come out here and join us,” Mayor Ellis said. “This election is not about me. It is about the security and prosperity of the people of Phillipsburg and the future of our town. Losing is not an option for this community,” he said.

Mayor Ellis also thanked Warren County Chairman Tom Palmieri for his support for the Phillipsburg campaign.

“Chairman Palmieri has been with us from the beginning and is a tremendous support to this campaign,” Ellis said.

Elected to his first term in 2015, Mayor Ellis is seeking a second term in Phillipsburg’s municipal elections in November. Stettner and Clark are running for two council seats currently held by incumbents Mark Lutz and Josh Davis. Councilman Josh Davis, a Democrat, is not seeking re-election.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Mayor Ellis, and his running mates, JP Stettner and Lee Clark, as our candidates,” said Councilman Davis, Chairman of the Phillipsburg Democrats. “Phillipsburg needs their expertise and experience to continue the progress we began under Mayor Ellis’ leadership,” Davis said.

Davis also clarified that Ellis, Stettner and Clark are the candidates endorsed by the Phillipsburg Democrats and the Warren County Democratic Committee. An opposing slate of candidates in the Democratic Primary have falsely claimed on their campaign literature to have the party endorsement.

“Mayor Steve Ellis, JP Stettner and Lee Clark are the only Democratic candidates the Phillipsburg Democrats have endorsed, and the only Phillipsburg candidates the Warren County Democrats have endorsed,” Chairman Davis said. “Any claims otherwise are false. As far as the Democratic party is concerned, Ellis, Stettner and Clark are the only Democrats in this race, period,” he said.
