Phillipsburg Republican Committee denies claims by County Democratic Committee

Prior to the Primary Election on June 4, 2019, a claim was
made by the Warren County Democratic Committee stating that the Town Council are keeping the
Phillipsburg Police department in a building indefinitely. This ad also states, “…their Republican boss
wants the police in her backyard instead of protecting you”. While it does not specify whom they are
referring to, it can be assumed it is the female Municipal Chair of the Phillipsburg Republican
Committee, Councilwoman DeGerolamo. The ad in question shows on it that it was “Paid for by the
Warren County Democratic Committee”. Phillipsburg Republican Committee Chairwoman Danielle
DeGerolamo vehemently denies this claim.

“I am horrified, both as a County Committee member and an elected official, they would make such an
accusation that is 100% false and distribute it via social media to mislead the public. It is a vile attempt
to further divide our community and mislead our tax payers about what is the best option for our
Municipal offices. To put the municipal staff in the middle, shows a clear pattern of bullying those who
disagree. Contrary to the press, the bi‐partisan council members often agree. The continued false
accusations show a clear indication of where the conflict starts in the town. This is the third time the
Mayor and the Democratic County Committee have chosen this route. What the Mayor should be doing
is his job: moving the police to a safe, temporary location ASAP using the money that has already been
allocated by Town Council, while we begin repairing our offices on Corliss Avenue that we’ve occupied
since the 1970s. Let’s hope they learn that Phillipsburg should come first, and that the residents of
Phillipsburg are smarter than they think.”

The Phillipsburg Republican Committee has already endorsed their slate of candidates for the November
general election and stands by their commitment to work with each other, rather than against, since
their initial press release in April. The Republican candidates look forward to a positive campaign,
meeting and talking with residents, and tackling the challenges before the Town of Phillipsburg.
