and Solid Waste Panel
(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin appointed Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin as the new chair of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee for the 218th legislative session.
“Nancy is a dedicated public servant and successful business owner,” said Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “She is passionate about the environment and a volunteer for local environmental organizations in her district. Assemblywoman Pinkin will bring a fresh perspective and experienced leadership to this legislative panel in addressing the state’s environmental concerns.”
Pinkin was elected to the Assembly in 2014. She represents the 18th Legislative District, which includes the cities of East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Plainfield, and South River in Middlesex County.
“It will be an honor to serve as chair of the Assembly Environment Committee,” said Pinkin (D-Middlesex). “Reducing the state’s carbon footprint and the effects of global warming are two of our priorities this session. As the Governor has clearly stated, we will not let Washington dictate our stance on climate change and our participation in RGGI and the U.S. Climate Alliance. We can do more and we must do more to ensure protection of New Jersey’s residents and communities against environmental concerns.”
Pinkin will also serve on the Assembly Health Committee, the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee.
