Quijano & Chaparro to Join Murphy on Trip to Assess Puerto Rican Hurricane Damage & Recovery Effort
(TRENTON) – Assemblywomen Annette Quijano and Annette Chaparro on Thursday announced they will be joining Gov.-elect Phil Murphy and a delegation tomorrow on a trip to Puerto Rico to survey damage from Hurricane Maria and the recovery effort.
“I’m honored to join Governor-elect Murphy and this delegation to get a first-hand look at the conditions and find out what needs to be done to help our fellow citizens,” said Quijano (D-Union). “This will be a great opportunity to find out what New Jersey can do to help Puerto Rico come back stronger than ever. New Jersey stands strong with the people of Puerto Rico – and doing so now is more than important than ever. I thank Governor-elect Murphy for arranging this trip.”
“I appreciate Governor-elect Murphy’s leadership in organizing this trip so we can see for ourselves the conditions in Puerto Rico,” said Chaparro (D-Hudson). “New Jersey and Puerto Rico have a special friendship, which is why it’s so important to be there for Puerto Rico in its time of need. Assessing the needs of our fellow Americans and finding out what we can do to help is paramount. I look forward to this trip leading to further advocacy and a continued effort to lend assistance.”
