Rizzo asks Democrat Majority to vote on Medicare-for-all for duration of COVID Pandemic
TRENTON – Pastor Phil Rizzo, President of Arise-NJ, today asked the Democrat Majorities in both chambers of the Legislature to do more than “enable Nancy Pelosi’s revenge tour” and to “do something real to help the millions of people across our country, and in this state, who lack health care in the midst of a pandemic.”
The Democrats are planning to propose a hyper-partisan Retribution Resolution calling for the removal of the elected President of the United States, just days before he is leaving office. “It is a useless, pointless exercise,” said Rizzo, who added, “We already know what the Democrats in the Legislature think of Donald Trump.”
“As a Christian clergyman, I don’t see the value of beginning the Presidency of Joe Biden this way. Most incoming presidents want a honeymoon with the opposing party. Pelosi and the Trenton Democrats are giving the future President Biden a nightmare instead.”
The Democrats’ Retribution Resolution calls for the following:
Condemns the president for inciting supremacist and extremist groups to occupy the Capitol and disrupt certification of the 2020 presidential election.
Recognizes the loss of life during the insurrection including by a New Jersey native Capitol police officer.
Condemns the Presidents consistent violations of his oath of office and constitutional duties.
Urges Trump to leave office either by resignation, impeachment, or invoking the 25th Amendment.
“Instead of hitching a ride on the Pelosi Revenge Tour, Trenton Democrats have an opportunity to follow the lead of progressives and others, by calling for the Speaker to hold a vote on expanding Medicare to all Americans for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Rizzo said.
“Governors like Phil Murphy have shut down businesses, ended employment, and killed job creation. They did so without taking into account that in America, our health care is largely determined by our ability to pay a monthly premium to a private insurance company,” Rizzo noted. “It is time for our political class to recognize this basic fact of life and to adjust to it, especially the poseurs among those Trenton Democrats who place revenge before addressing the needs of the people.”
