Sarnoski Endorses Lonegan for Congress
Former opponent says Steve “will work hard to be our voice in Washington”

Hackensack, NJ — Warren County Freeholder Jason J. Sarnoski today announced his support for conservative Republican Steve Lonegan in his campaign for congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District.

Sarnoski, who had explored running for the same seat, released the following statement announcing his support for Lonegan:

During my own time considering a run for Congress, I spent the good part of the last year traveling around the Fifth Congressional District talking to people about what is important to them and what they are looking for in a congressman.

The residents of the Fifth Congressional District want someone who knows the struggles of the average person, shares our values, and is ready to stand up and fight for the people he represents.

I believe that person is Steve Lonegan.

Steve is a successful businessman who wants to create jobs, lower taxes, and enact term limits.  Hardworking and outspoken, Steve has a lifelong record of selfless public service. He has taken on the tough fights that few others were willing to and he is the only Republican candidate who has already won the Fifth District having defeated Cory Booker here during the special senate election.

As a Warren County Freeholder, the most important thing to me are the residents of Warren County.  Steve Lonegan has spent a significant amount of time getting to know the people of Warren County and what our area needs.  I know he will be a great representative of our rural community and will work hard to be our voice in Washington.

I encourage my supporters to get behind Steve Lonegan and I look forward to working with Steve and the NJGOP to take back the Fifth Congressional District and send Josh Gottheimer his walking papers.

Lonegan thanked Sarnoski for his support and lauded his leadership in Warren County.

“Jason is one of the great rising stars in the Republican Party,” Lonegan said.  “He has been a faithful steward of taxpayer dollars in Warren County and a dedicated leader of our Party as the Warren County State Committeeman.  His endorsement means a lot to me, my wife Lorraine, my campaign team, and all of our supporters.”

Lonegan has already been endorsed by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), Bergen County State Senator Gerry Cardinale, Mrs. Ann Kievit, President of the Northwest New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association, Rev. Greg Quinlan, President of the Center for Garden State Families on behalf of New Jersey for a Conservative Majority, Alexander Roubian, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS), United States Senator Ted Cruz, Warren County State Senator Mike Doherty, Sussex County State Senator Steve Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space, Assemblyman-elect Hal Wirths, Sussex County State Committeewoman Jill Space, Morris County State Senator Joe Pennacchio, Assemblyman John DiMaio, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce, Warren County Freeholder Director Richard D. Gardner, and Warren County Freeholder Deputy Director Edward J. Smith.
