SCOTCH PLAINS, NEW JERSEY — Scott Salmon, Democrat running for the United States House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, is proud to announce the support of Donnell Carr, the former president of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Westfield. Carr served in this role from 2012 to 2018 and was the Vice President from 1999-2012.
“Scott has earned my support because he’s focused on fighting for real solutions for our community,” Carr stated. “It is easy to simply talk about what you will do, but Scott has already demonstrated his commitment to fighting injustice and inequality wherever it exists.”
Salmon, an attorney who represents small business owners all across New Jersey, has made combating economic and racial inequality a centerpiece of his campaign. Salmon has experience fighting these battles: as an attorney, he has defended minority business owners that have been the subject of racial discrimination and women who have been subject to sexual harassment and assault. Salmon has also volunteered for a low-income tax clinic, as an Election Day lawyer protecting voting rights, and was a volunteer attorney at Newark Airport following the introduction of President Trump’s Muslim Travel Ban.
“I am honored at this display of support,” Salmon said. “Dr. King stated that the civil rights movement would ‘remember not the words of its enemies, but the silence of its friends.’ I am proud to call myself a friend and advocate for the movement, and I will not be silent.”
