TRENTON – Senate President Nick Scutari issued the following statement praising the election victory of Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill and Lieutenant Governor-elect Dale Caldwell:

“Congratulations to Mikie Sherrill and Dale Caldwell for their hard-fought and important victory in the gubernatorial election. The voters were clear in choosing talented Democratic candidates who will fight for New Jersey’s values.

“By overcoming the historical political trends that favored their opponents, they sent a message to the entire country that they possess the skills needed to fight successfully for the priorities of all the people of New Jersey with a positive vision for the state’s future. I know they will bring that same commitment and determination to Trenton as the Garden State’s next Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

“We have obstacles to overcome during challenging times, but we will do it with a shared commitment to move the state forward. With the new Sherrill Administration working in partnership with Democratic leadership in the Senate and Assembly, we have the opportunity to turn the page on a new era of progress.
