Senator Vitale Statement on Rally to

End Statute of Limitations for Child Sexual Abuse

TRENTON – Senator Joseph F. Vitale (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement in support of today’s rally at the State House to advance legislation he sponsors to remove the statute of limitations in civil actions for child sexual abuse:

“I stand in solidarity with the courageous advocates who came forward today to demand an avenue to justice that will allow their healing and recovery to begin.  Our society has awakened to the prevalence of sexual assault and the suffering it causes.  It’s time our laws reflect that.

“I will do everything I can to pass this legislation, S-477, that will expand the civil statute of limitations for child sexual abuse, and thank all of the advocates who have been fighting with me for many years to reach this goal.”
