Sherrill: Jack-Backed Bill will Cause 500,000 New Jerseyans’ Health Insurance Prices to “Soar”

Jack-Backed Bill will Cause 500,000 New Jerseyans’ Health Insurance Prices to “Soar”
Jack-backed bill is “forcing New Jersey residents to dig deeper to pay for health insurance”
BLOOMFIELD — In another example of Jack Ciattarelli bowing down to Donald Trump and costing New Jerseyans more of their hard earned money, Jack supported the price hike bill that is forcing more than half a million New Jerseyans to “dig deeper to pay for health insurance.”
New Jerseyans are scared, saying, “I'm afraid to know (how much it will be), to tell you the truth… It's so much money as it is.” An average family of four currently getting tax credits (which the overwhelming majority of people in Get Covered NJ do) would see their premium increase by more than $4,000.
“Every New Jerseyan should be able to access the care they need without falling into medical debt. It’s unacceptable that Jack backs the bill that will cause more than half a million New Jerseyans’ health insurance prices to soar. I’m running for governor to make life more affordable for Garden State families, while Jack is lock-step with Trump’s plan to throw people off coverage and raise costs,” said Mikie Sherrill.
Peggy Driscoll is one of the many New Jerseyans whose health insurance prices will “soar” because of the Jack/Trump MAGA agenda:
- Peggy Driscoll, 63-year-old Hazlet resident already “pays $536 a month… after getting $834 in subsidies and a $100 state tax credit.”
- Peggy said “she struggles keeping up with the payments, noting she tries to avoid doctors visits when she can because of out-of-pocket costs.”
- Because of the bill Jack supports, Peggy’s “premium could more than double. But she has little choice but to buy the coverage; she said has gone without health insurance before and knows it's not a risk she wants to take again.”
- Peggy is nervous about the increasing costs, telling the Asbury Park Press, “I'm afraid to know (how much it will be), to tell you the truth… It's so much money as it is.”
