Small Administration Announces Criteria for Premium Payments Issued to Atlantic City Taxpayers and City Employees

(ATLANTIC CITY) – The Small Administration announced today criteria and eligibility information for premium payments issued to Atlantic City taxpayers and City employees. The plan for premium payments, originally announced by the Administration on August 19, would use approximately $4 million, of the $32.4 million awarded to the City through the American Rescue Plan Act, to issue these payments.

“The Small Administration is proud to introduce a plan to provide premium payments to Atlantic City taxpayers and City employees,” said Mayor Marty Small, Sr. “The payments are just one part of our overall plan to use this federal funding to support the residents, businesses, and employees of Atlantic City impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to announcing additional initiatives and programs for our community later this Fall.”

Details on the payments and criteria for eligibility can be found below:

  • Residential and business taxpayers will receive one payment of $500, regardless of the number of properties owned in Atlantic City. To be eligible, taxpayers must be current on their taxes as of September 1, 2021. Individuals who pay outstanding tax bills after September 1 are not eligible for the premium payment.

  • Employees eligible for the $3,500 payment are those who served the City from March 20, 2020 through September 28, 2020 and remain a City employee as of August 31, 2021. Staff hired during this timeframe will receive a prorated payment.

The Department of Revenue and Finance and the City Solicitor’s Office continue to work with state partners to finalize details of the City’s plans. Payments could be issued as early as September 2021. Taxpayers and current City employees eligible for the premium payment will be contacted with additional details in the coming weeks.
