SOMMA PLEDGES TERM LIMITS: Committed to Morris County Unlike Selen, DeGroot, Sherrill

Randolph, NJ – Conservative businessman and life-long Morris County Republican Anthony Somma has pledged to term-limit himself to a maximum of three 3-year terms and to not turn around and run for another office as his opponents tend to do.

“Morris County and New Jersey are beset by politicians who stay too long or who can’t decide which office will gratify their ambitions for power,” Somma said. “I’m committed to Morris County and to tackling the problems facing Morris County Republicans and Morris County taxpayers.”

Somma is the first and only candidate for County Commissioner to make this pledge, drawing a stark contrast with his opponents, Tayfun Selen and Paul DeGroot.

“Selen and DeGroot have a history of demonstrated weakness on the ballot and a lack of loyalty to their constituents. Selen has run for every office under the sun from councilman to congressman and his performances on the ballot have been abysmal. And now, DeGroot, who ran for Congress just last year, is running for Commissioner after losing by a whopping 19 points,” Somma said.

“Our state legislators and our municipal candidates in 2023 deserve a candidate for County Commissioner who won’t drag them down in November,” Somma added. “How much better are either of these two than Paul’s congressional opponent, Mike Sherrill, who is now running for reelection to Congress in 2024 and for Governor in 2025?”

Somma said he will build his campaign around a total commitment to Morris County and that he believes Morris County Republicans will respond to it.

“Morris County faces significant challenges that no other candidate in this race is committed to tackling: reckless spending and a weakening economy, a totally broken election system, our roads in disrepair, wholesale attacks on family and parental rights, and crisis-level shortages of volunteer fire and EMS personnel,” Somma said. “We must elect a Commissioner who will focus on these issues and not use this race as a stepping-stone for another office next year.”
