With Spending Bill Vote Congressman Frelinghuysen Once Again Choose Washington Over the People of New Jersey’s 11th District

In response to the House passage of the fiscal year 2018 spending bill, Mikie Sherrill former naval helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor released the following statement:

“Today’s vote on the House 2018 spending bill is further proof that Congressman Frelinghuysen is choosing leadership in Washington over the needs and priorities of New Jersey’s 11th District. This bill slashes funding to protect our clean drinking water and clean air. It also takes away $3.3 billion in critical Pell grant funding. This bill will make college and community college less affordable as students try to move themselves up the economic ladder. And it attacks women’s health by restrict funding for Planned Parenthood. We need leaders in Washington who will stand up for the communities they serve.”

In May, Congressman Frelinghuysen voted for the Republican Healthcare bill that would have costs tens of thousands to lose health care in the district. He currently holds a score of 8 percent with the League of Conservation Voters and has voted previously to defund Planned Parenthood. Throughout 2017, Congressman Frelinghuysen has received intense criticism for his refusal to meet with constituents or hold in-person town halls. Congressman Frelinghuysen hasn’t held an in-person town hall in almost five years.
