Statement By Governor Murphy On President Trump’S Desire To End Hurricane Relief Funding For Puerto Rico

TRENTON – Today, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy released the following statement following reports that President Trump would like to end federal disaster relief funding for Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria:

“It is unconscionable that President Trump is seeking to end federal disaster funding for Puerto Rico at a time when the island is still recovering from the ravage caused by Hurricane Maria. Once again, the President has failed to support our fellow Americans in their time of need.

“Here in New Jersey, we will never turn our backs on our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico. The Garden State will do everything it can to help rebuild the island and continue to provide aid and support to the Puerto Rican people.”
