VINELAND, NJ —
I am incredibly excited to announce that our campaign has been endorsed by Senator Mike Gravel and the Gravel Institute. Senator Gravel’s tireless work throughout his long career to promote progressive reform is an inspiring example that I have taken to heart on this campaign. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that young people are leading the way to create true progressive change in this district and in this nation. The Gravel Institute demonstrates that by building a diverse coalition of young activists fighting for a more peaceful and egalitarian world, we can create real change. It is an honor to receive their endorsement.
This race has demonstrated how wealth and privilege can have corrupting influences in our political system. My opponents have proved, time and time again, that they are beholden to the special interests we must remove from politics in order to create a more just and equitable system for all. Our representatives should understand the lived experiences of their constituents, not flaunt their personal or family prestige to get elected. South Jerseyans are struggling in a way that my two wealthy opponents can never understand. This is a fight for the working families of South Jersey and I will not let privilege and wealth win over true representation.
I have a proven record working in Congress as a Chief Investigator for the House Oversight Committee. Thus, on day one as your representative, I can be effective and legislate for compassionate, data-driven policies for the great folks in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. Progressive forces like Senator Gravel and the Gravel Institute truly understand this. Their support is hugely impactful in advancing progressive policies and proving the appeal of bold, systemic change that transcends race and place in this country.
Senator Gravel and the Gravel Institute’s endorsement signals the urgency of championing policies such as Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, both of which I am the only candidate in this race to wholeheartedly support. My campaign is the only voice for true progressivism and equality in this race. This endorsement serves to validate what we already know. South Jersey needs a change and South Jersey deserves a change. My campaign was founded upon being that transformative force for the people of South Jersey and I could not be prouder to have a partner like Senator Gravel and the Gravel Institute in this race.

Will Cunningham is a South Jersey native running to be the Democratic nominee in the July 7, 2020 primary to challenge party-switcher Jeff Van Drew in November. Cunningham’s investigations on the House Oversight Committee resulted in the firing of the CEO of e-cigarette company JUUL for marketing to children, student loan relief from predatory for-profit colleges Betsy DeVos protects, and the removal of Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based baby powder from the North American market. |
