Sumter on FY2020 Budget Passage in the Assembly
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement on the Assembly’s approval of the Democrats’ FY2020 Budget Proposal:
“Our proposed spending plan encompasses Democratic priorities set by both the Legislature and the administration. We’re addressing the needs of seniors, New Jersey veterans, and residents through substantial funding increases to the Senior Freeze program, doubling veterans’ income tax deductions and providing $175 million in property tax relief.
“Critical funding for SNAP programs, Charity Care and raising pay for DSPs and Personal Care Assistants were also among our top priorities in the Legislature. Our budget provides a surplus of well over $1.4 billion.
“With this budget proposal, we continue to place the state on the right fiscal path.”
