Sweeney Joins Rutgers Eagleton Fellows
Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney joined 27 Rutgers Eagleton Fellows today for a discussion on government, public affairs and American politics.
“Our state and our country need more people like these young men and women,” said Senator Sweeney (Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “It’s always inspiring to meet young people as passionate about government and policy as I am. Serving the public has been one of the most rewarding ventures of my life, and sharing my experience with students, especially ones so eager to work this field, always gives me a renewed sense of hope as we continue to tackle the major obstacles ahead of us.
“New Jersey is facing difficult and complex roads ahead with a mounting fiscal crisis, rising taxes and a state that is becoming more unaffordable every year. The policies we are working on today are the first steps of a long path and I look forward to this next generation graduating, bringing with them their new ideas and helping the State of New Jersey move forward.”
The Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University offers interdisciplinary fellowships that provide select Rutgers graduate students the opportunity to further their understanding of government, public affairs, and the practice of American politics and connect the fellowship experience to their chosen fields of study.
