Sweeney Tours Fedway Distribution Warehouse in Elizabeth

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney today toured the NEW Fedway distribution warehouse in Elizabeth, getting a firsthand view of a modern facility that opened in 2017 after Superstorm Sandy heavily damaged their aging warehouse in Kearny.

“Like many parts of New Jersey, the former Fedway location was severely damaged during Superstorm Sandy. Thankfully, they were able to rebuild better than ever,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “The new facility was borne from tragedy but it is an example of resilience by the company and its workers. It shows that when disasters strike, New Jersey not only comes back, we improve on what was lost.”

Fedway is New Jersey’s largest distributor of wine and spirits. Senator Sweeney was joined on the tour by Asssemblyman Jamel Holley as well as Richard Leventhal, Chairman and CEO of Fedway Associates, Neil Barnett, President of Fedway Associates, Rob Sansone, Executive VP and CFO of Fedway Associates and Max Leventhal, Principal Marketing Officer of Fedway Associates.

“New Jersey is our home and it is a great place to do business,” said Richard Leventhal, Chairman and CEO, Fedway Associates. “Transportation is an invaluable attribute for us. The investments that continue to be made in the state’s infrastructure are vital to our ability to prosper and support our workforce.”

The new facility offers a number of advantages over the old Kearny warehouse including better access to transportation infrastructure, increased shipping volume, state-of-the-art technology, and greater storm resistance.
