HACKENSACK, NJ – Last Friday, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced the promotion of Jared Lautz and Derek Sands to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff for the County of Bergen. In their new elevated roles, they will serve jointly under Michele DiIorgi, the longest tenured Chief of Staff in the history of Bergen County government. The moves will be made official on January 1, 2023.

“I am thrilled to announce the promotion of two individuals who have been instrumental to the success of this administration,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “Having seen Derek and Jared grow both personally and professionally over the last eight years, I am confident that in their new roles, they will continue to do all they can to keep Bergen County moving forward in a positive and progressive direction.”

Jared Lautz is currently serving as the Senior Strategic Policy Advisor for the County Administrator’s office overseeing appointments and the implementation of policy. Prior to working for the Tedesco administration, Lautz served as Director of Communications and Policy for the Bergen County Board of Commissioners.
