TERRANCE L. BANKSTON, CANDIDATE FOR SOUTH WARD COUNCIL SEAT,

GETS TOP POSITION ON ELECTION BALLOT.

Terrance L. Bankston Candidate For South Ward Councilperson, Was Among

The Lucky Candidates In Yesterday’s Election Drawing, Scoring C-1,

The Top Position On The City Ballot.

NEWARK, NJ – The contest for Newark City Council heats up! Terrance L. Bankston, candidate for South Ward councilperson, was among the lucky candidates in yesterday’s election drawing, scoring C-1, the top position on the city ballot. The benefits of landing high on the ballot, is a hotly debated topic amongst political candidates. Many political strategists say candidates whose names are placed at the top of the ballot are in a great positon; it’s particularly advantageous in close races.

Minutes after the drawing yesterday, Insider NJ made the announcement of Mr. Bankston’s first ballot position and his attempt to dethrone South Ward Councilman John James. While Bankston is excited about pulling the first ballot, he’s focused on the importance of doing the work. “The current councilman’s poor record is why he is running for the South Ward Council position,” declares Bankston. “The South Ward of Newark, is up 300 percent in murders, with a rise in most murders being committed by black males under the age of 25. Moreover, we have 10-closed public schools, in just the South Ward alone. The present councilperson’s record will indicate he holds a full-time job at the county of Essex and therefore, is not available to better address the daily needs of the South Ward residents. In addition, he remains silent on all significant issues and challenges plaguing the ward. Lastly, John James has had a rather ineffective relationship with the Mayor. The South Ward of Newark, Needs Leadership, NOT LEGACY.”

Terrance L. Bankston’s decision to run for South Ward Councilperson against former beleaguered Mayor Sharpe James’ son, John Sharpe James, is challenging the old guard. Some say this will be the modern day “Street Fight,” that happened in 2005, between the then Central Ward Councilman Cory Booker, when he ran against long time Mayor Sharpe James. Mr. Bankston is also dedicated to bridging the generation gap between millennials and seniors, who are encouraging him to remain independent, because they are fed up and frustrated with career politicians. “In my over 15 years of experience as a public servant and community leader, I have built a reputation of character and integrity that Newark residents have come to trust,” explained Terrance. #LEADERSHIPvsLEGACY is the foundation that I stand on.”

Although Terrance Bankston will spend the lion’s share of his time canvassing the South Ward to engage with concerned residents, #TeamBankston has launched a weekly Facebook Live Stream, every Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., to give South Warders who prefer a social media experience, the opportunity to discuss various issues of concern in real time.
