Thank Trenton Democrats for Higher Energy Bills by Asm. Michael Torrissi Jr. and Brandon Umba

You’ve seen your energy bills skyrocket 20%. You’ve read the headlines. Families like yours and ours have felt it firsthand when paying your monthly electricity bill. Families, seniors, and small businesses are forced to make tough choices.

Who is to blame for this? Who is forcing our neighbors to cut back, stretch every dollar, and sacrifice?

The answer: Trenton Democrats like Assemblywoman Andrea Katz and Governor Phil Murphy. All in the name of pursuing their radical Energy Master Plan that prioritizes ineffective “green” energy over affordable and reliable solutions.

Because here’s the truth: your energy bill didn’t just creep up, it exploded. Up more than 20% virtually overnight. For many families, that means hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, gone from the household budget. That’s groceries. That’s rent. That’s your kid’s soccer cleats.

The worst part? This didn’t happen by accident. It happened because Trenton politicians, led by Governor Phil Murphy, shut down reliable energy sources, blocked natural gas, and wasted billions on offshore wind projects that never got built.

Now these same out-of-touch elites are doubling down. They want to force electrification by banning gas stoves, grills, lawnmowers—even telling you what kind of car you must drive.

When we see our new higher electric bills and hear about their future plans, our reaction is the same as yours: anger.

Enough is enough - but leadership isn’t about staying angry, it’s about finding solutions.

Our District 8 Team introduced a three-step plan to restore affordability, transparency, and common sense to New Jersey’s energy future.

Here’s our plan:

Step 1 - The Energy Security and Affordability Act: Ends Murphy’s backroom energy deals, forces transparency, and puts affordability first. No more blank checks for failed projects.

Step 2 - The Affordable Home Energy Protection Act: Stops Trenton from banning gas appliances and keeps the choice where it belongs, with you.

Step 3 - The Vehicle Choice Protection Act: Makes it clear the state cannot ban gas-powered cars. Drive what you want, not what politicians tell you.

South Jersey families already pay higher taxes, higher grocery bills, and higher housing costs. Now Trenton wants to pile on with skyrocketing utility bills and one-size-fits-all mandates. That’s not just unfair, it’s unsustainable.

We need an energy policy built on choice, affordability, and reliability. One that keeps costs down, keeps the power on, and keeps South Jersey families first.

Governor Murphy may think he knows best, but the reality is clear: New Jersey families can’t afford his experiment.

It’s time to put common sense back in charge. New Jersey can’t afford another year of Andrea Katz’s energy agenda. Let’s fix this, send us to Trenton.
