As Trump Turns Away Asylum Seekers and Ends Refugee Resettlement, Jersey City Communities Demand Congress Act

Rise for Refuge Jersey City Rally to Urge the Administration to Admit 95,000 Refugees

Jersey City, New Jersey – Welcome Home, Jersey City Vigil for Refugees, First Friends of NJ & NY, and RDJ Refugee Center will stand with We Are All America for a national day of action and mass mobilization by hosting Jersey City’s Rise for Refuge Rally. After dismantling the U.S. asylum system, the administration is now considering completely zeroing out refugee resettlement in 2020, which would result in a near total refugee ban and collapse the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program. Faith leaders, refugee agencies, and community partners who find this completely unacceptable are demanding that Congress stop these attacks on asylum seekers and return refugee resettlement to its historic norms.
