This Weekend Jersey City Becomes the First in the State to Test a New Inclusive Bicycle Facility incorporating Bikes and other Active Mobility Users

What:             This weekend a temporary protected bikeway will be implemented on Bergen Avenue to test a street design that will show residents and businesses how permanent bike lanes could be safely implemented in Jersey City.

We invite media to attend Friday for a preview and finishing of the installation to reconfigure half of the street with a new “floating” parking lane that protects the bikeway located between the parked cars and the sidewalk to provide physical protection for cyclists and other active users, such as skateboarders and scooter users.

This is the latest step in Jersey City’s bicycle master plan and efforts towards Vision Zero – an initiative started in Jersey City under Mayor Fulop to eliminate all traffic fatalities on City streets to zero through various initiatives such as this.
