West Amwell Mayor Zach Rich First to Officially Express Intent to
Run for Open Hunterdon County Freeholder Seat

West Amwell, NJ – On Wednesday, February 6th, West Amwell Township Mayor Zach Rich submitted a letter to the Hunterdon County Republican Executive Committee with his intentions to seek the Freeholder seat being vacated by Freeholder Director Suzanne Lagay.

Mayor Rich released the following statement regarding his candidacy, “I have spent the last ten years committing myself to public service in my community and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Together with my colleagues on the Township Committee and the Townships dedicated employees, we have stayed true to the principles of good government and remained vigilant in our duty to improve the lives of West Amwell’s residents. I am excited for the opportunity to take my vision and enthusiasm for public service to the entire county and I am confident that my experiences will serve to contribute to and expand upon the excellent work being done by our County Freeholders.”

Mayor Rich added, “I would like to thank Freeholder Director Lagay for her outstanding public service leadership over the years. Freeholder Director Lagay seized an opportunity to make a difference, has done it with class, and set the bar high for those following in her footsteps.”

Mayor Rich, a Republican, first elected at the age 29, is currently serving his third term on the West Amwell Township Committee in southern Hunterdon County. Rich and his wife currently live in West Amwell with their 3 daughters.

The Hunterdon County Republican Committee will hold an Executive Committee candidate screening on March 7th and the County Convention will be held on March 12th to officially decide the nominee.
