Wimberly, Speight, Reynolds-Jackson on Bill Establishing New Jersey Eviction Crisis Task Force
(TRENTON) – On newly introduced legislation (A-4517) that would establish the “New Jersey Eviction Crisis Task Force,” the bill’s sponsors, Assembly Democrats Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passaic), Shanique Speight (D-Essex) and Verlina Reynolds-Jackson
(D-Hunterdon, Mercer), issued the following statement Wednesday:
“Evictions continue to be a major housing issue in our state. This task force will convene the various stakeholders, including housing experts, community advocates, legislators and legal professionals, to take a comprehensive look at this crisis that has impacted so many families and individuals.
“By studying recent trends in evictions throughout New Jersey; identifying the impact of evictions on renters, landlords, and local governments; and recommending legislation and strategies, we can help create more effective and efficient policies to help reduce evictions in the garden state.”
