Young Democrats of Bergen County Re-Organize, New Executive Board Formed

The Young Democrats of Bergen County officially re-organized and elected an executive board comprised of millennials active in local and countywide politics and government. Tara Chatterjee of Lodi, former Aide to Bergen County Freeholder Tracy S. Zur and former Executive Director of We the People- Embrace. Empower. Engage. Inc., was elected as President of the organization.

“We hope that by coming together and sharing our individual talents, we can build a coalition of engaged, motivated, and hard working young people from across Bergen County” said Chatterjee.

“I am extremely proud to see the Young Democrats of Bergen County reorganizing at such a critical time.” Said Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul A. Juliano. “My door is always open for advice and guidance should they seek it, and I look forward to working closely with them to bring up the next generation of Democratic leaders in Bergen County.”

Ms. Chatterjee leads an executive board comprised of seasoned operatives with years of experience in Bergen County government and politics:

• Vice President Derek Sands – Communications Director for Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, Vice Chair of the East Rutherford Zoning Board, and East Rutherford Sewage Authority Commissioner
• Treasurer Conor Gorman – Dumont Councilman and Executive Director of the Democratic Committee of Bergen County
• Political Director Storm Wyche-Sands – Deputy Director of the New Jersey Coordinated Campaign and veteran Democratic campaign strategist
• Secretary Colin Knight – aide to Bergen County Freeholder David L. Ganz
• Communications Director Pat Fallon – former Aide to Bergen County Freeholder Chairwoman Mary Amoroso and East Rutherford Zoning Board Member
• Digital Director Amanda Karpinski – Aide to Bergen County Freeholder Chairwoman Mary Amoroso and former Carlstadt Council candidate

Young Democrats of Bergen County are ready to hit the ground running in the 2020 general election and ensure the success of the entire Democratic ticket – from the borough hall to the White House. We know that our work does not end when the polls close this year; It is our goal to engage and empower young people to take their seat at the table, and become more involved in civics and the political process. It is our hope that we can help recruit and cultivate the next generation of Democratic leaders in Bergen County and beyond.
