Newark, NJ — Assemblywoman Shanique Speight today announced her enthusiastic endorsement of Mayor Ras Baraka for re-election, her full support for Team Baraka, and her strong personal endorsement of Josephine Garcia for Newark City Council At-Large.
Assemblywoman Speight’s endorsement of Team Baraka includes Mayor Ras Baraka; Councilwoman Amina Bey; Councilman Patrick Council; Councilman Dupre Kelly; Councilman Anibal Ramos; Councilman Mike Silva; Councilwoman At-Large Louise Scott-Rountree; Councilman At-Large Luis Quintana; and Councilman At-Large Larry Crump.
“Mayor Ras Baraka and Team Baraka have shown Newark what dedicated leadership looks like leadership rooted in service, vision, and an unwavering commitment to our neighborhoods,” said Assemblywoman Speight. “I am proud to stand with this team as we continue building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Newark.”
Assemblywoman Speight also offered special praise for Josephine Garcia.
“I am equally proud to endorse Josephine Garcia for Newark City Council At-Large,” Speight said. “Josephine Garcia is a respected public servant with deep roots in our city and a proven record of leadership. Her service on the Newark Board of Education and her work as Chief of Staff to Councilman Carlos Gonzalez demonstrate her passion for Newark and her readiness to serve. Josephine will bring integrity, compassion, and strong leadership to City Hall, and I am proud to support her candidacy for this open seat.”
Assemblywoman Shanique Speight represents portions of Newark in the New Jersey General Assembly, where she has been a strong advocate for working families, education, economic opportunity, and stronger communities.
