Baselice Files Petitions for Re-Election Campaign as Hudson County Commissioner
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – Hudson County Commissioner Robert P. Baselice announced that he has officially filed nominating petitions to run for re-election to represent District 8, continuing his focus on delivering results, strengthening neighborhoods, and improving quality of life for residents in North Bergen, Secaucus, and across Hudson County. Commissioner Baselice has the full support of North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, who first endorsed him for the position in 2023. Mayor Sacco spoke out in support of Commissioner Baselice at his re-election campaign fundraiser in January, and this weekend Commissioner Baselice received endorsements from the Hudson County Democratic Organization and leaders throughout the county.
“I am running for re-election because I care deeply about the people I represent and the communities we call home,” said Commissioner Baselice. “Over the past three years, I have worked to deliver real results, from improving our parks and infrastructure to supporting families, seniors and veterans. I'm grateful for the support of Democratic leaders throughout Hudson County, and I'm excited to be running alongside several new candidates who will bring valuable perspectives to the Board of Commissioners as we work to represent the people of our communities."
First elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2023, Baselice has taken a practical, community-focused approach to government, emphasizing collaboration, responsiveness, and securing resources for local priorities. During his first term, Baselice helped secure millions of dollars in funding for projects in District 8 and countywide. He has supported improvements to parks, roads, and public spaces, while also working with local organizations to address key issues such as food insecurity, housing, and services for seniors, families, and veterans. Commissioner Baselice has also stood strong with local immigrant families impacted by the federal immigration enforcement crisis, supporting actions to ban ICE from operating on county property, urging the passage of state legislation to strengthen immigrant protections and working with local advocates to inform residents about their rights.
“Commissioner Baselice has done an outstanding job delivering real results for our residents,” said North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco. “From securing funding for important projects to improving our parks, roads, and quality of life, Bob has been a strong partner and an effective advocate for North Bergen. I fully support his re-election and I'm gratified to see that the Hudson County Democratic Organization is supporting our choice for County Commissioner, Bob Baselice. I'm glad to support the entire HCDO slate of candidates across Hudson County."
Among the major projects advanced during his tenure are upgrades to James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park, including new recreational amenities, safety improvements, and future plans for a nature trail and upgrades to the existing waterpark. Baselice has also supported significant roadway improvements, including a multi-million-dollar project along Paterson Plank Road and planned upgrades in Secaucus to enhance safety and accessibility.
