Bayly Winder goes head-to-head with Kevin O’Leary on AI Data Centers on CNN’s Laura Coates Live
MAYS LANDING, NJ — May 28, 2026 — Democratic congressional candidate Bayly Winder appeared nationally on Laura Coates Live Wednesday night in a televised panel discussion alongside businessman and television personality Kevin O'Leary. The segment aired live on CNN at approximately 11:30 PM EST on May 28 and focused on the impact of data center development on communities, in South Jersey and across the nation.
During the discussion, Winder argued that Congress must play a more active role in holding powerful corporations and political leaders accountable as emerging technologies reshape the economy and communities. He has called for a national short-term moratorium on data center development until guardrails are put in place.
“I think Congress has a key role to play in this when it comes to oversight and asking those tough questions,” Winder said during the segment. “We know that this White House is working with the ultra wealthy and big corporations to make sweetheart deals happen. And Jeff Van Drew, the congressman for New Jersey's Second District, shrugged and said the federal [government’s] role does not have a part to play in this. But that's not true at all. This is actually something that is uniting people across the country.”
Winder also criticized the tax subsidies and incentives often granted to major corporations while working families continue to struggle with rising costs and economic uncertainty. “They're getting a lot of benefits. The red carpet rolled out. Why is that the case?” Winder said. “These corporations do not need the tax breaks, and working families are really, really worried. That's what we hear day in and day out in the community. People showing up at town halls holding their utility bills and wondering about if they'll ever be able to sell their home. So it's not good enough to hear corporations say, don't worry about it. That is not reassurance.”
The appearance marks another major national media moment for Winder as his campaign continues gaining visibility across New Jersey and beyond. Winder’s campaign said the CNN appearance reflects growing national attention on the issues animating voters ahead of the 2026 election cycle.
