Morris County, NJ (May 12, 2026) – Today, Brian Varela’s campaign for Congress launched its second television ad of the Democratic primary. "Watching my mom fight cancer was the hardest thing my family ever endured. She was an incredibly hard-working and loving mom who gave everything to help my brother and me have a shot at a better life. When she got sick, we lived with a fear that no family should ever have to carry: that on top of losing her, we could lose everything else too,” said Varela. “That fear is why I am running for Congress, and it is why I will fight for Medicare for All. In the richest country on earth, no one should have to choose between their health and their home. No mom should have to worry that getting medical treatment will bankrupt her kids. That is what this campaign is about, and that is the fight I am bringing to Washington."

The ad is backed by a six-figure buy running on cable, streaming, and digital across New Jersey's 7th Congressional District. It launches after a stretch of significant momentum for the campaign. Varela has earned more than 80 local endorsements across the district and state, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, 32BJ SEIU, and Make the Road Action, and finished the first fundraising quarter of 2026 with more than $1.3 million in the bank.
