Congresswoman Analilia Mejia Marks First 100 Days in Congress with Bold Action for NJ-11 Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) today marked her first 100 days in Congress, a period defined by robust legislative action, sustained oversight of the Trump administration, and direct engagement with constituents across New Jersey's 11th District.

In her first week in office, Representative Mejia introduced her first bill, the Living Wage for All Act. The legislation raises the federal minimum wage to $25 an hour and has since been introduced in the Senate. Since then, she has co-sponsored 85 pieces of legislation, including Medicare for All, the College for All Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, along with measures to reform the Supreme Court, guarantee universal child care and paid leave, overturn Citizens United, protect LGBTQ+ rights, enact tax fairness, lower housing and energy costs, and support parents and caregivers.

In the district, Rep. Mejia recently secured more than $5 million in federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services for health care and child care programs. She has held two town halls to hear directly from constituents and, as a member of the House Small Business Committee, has visited local business owners across the district while voting to invest greater resources in Main Street.

"My first 100 days have been about carrying our district with me into every room I walk into down in Washington, D.C., from Randolph to Belleville and everywhere in between," said Congresswoman Analilia Mejia. "When I introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour, I was thinking about families working multiple jobs just to keep up. When I launched the 14th Amendment Task Force, I was thinking about our neighbors whose rights and safety are under threat. Every hearing, every town hall, every visit to a small business on Main Street comes back to this community. I'm committed to showing up for New Jersey every single day, and for the next 100 days and far beyond, I'm fighting for an economy and a democracy that works for everyone."

As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Mejia regularly conducts oversight of the Delaney Hall and Elizabeth detention centers and tracks the conditions facing medically vulnerable people held inside them. In one of her first hearings, she sharply questioned Secretary Mullin, who was unable to answer basic questions about medical care for chronically ill detainees.

As the administration and the Supreme Court continue to threaten fundamental rights, Rep. Mejia formed the Defend the 14th Amendment Task Force with the support of House Democratic leadership to protect the constitutional guarantees of due process, equal protection under the law, and birthright citizenship through public education and coordinated congressional action.
