Conservatives Fight Back with a New Group

The Gold Dome.

It's been a challenging few months for New Jersey Republicans dating back to last November and continuing through the recent special election in CD-11.

With a reboot in order, a new group aims to help.

Enter the New Jersey Conservative Organization Club, or NJCOC.   It describes itself thusly:

"The NJCOC is a new initiative of policy focused leaders committed to strengthening conservative engagement across New Jersey."

To that end, it plans monthly meetings for collaboration and "information sharing."

It also plans to "celebrate legislators" who show outspoken leadership on conservative issues.

Not only that, it wants to have some fun.

A communication from NJCOC (It probably should consider a different acronym) speaks of highlighting legislation that emerges from a satirical  "Assembly Insane ,Outrageous  and Radical Ideas Committee."

This group is not open to the public. It is a self-stated private group and its luncheon meetings are reportedly by invitation only.

That has already prompted criticism from some New Jersey conservatives.

Rob Kovic, a one time CD-11 primary candidate and author of the online "Conservative View,"  writes, among other things, that "elites" meeting in secret is no way to reshape a party.

It should be noted that Kovic is one of the movers behind the New Jersey Property Taxpayers Coalition, which seeks to fix what is arguably the state's biggest problem.

The NJCOC says it came about through discussions among several New Jersey conservative leaders.

Listed on the group's online material are Jack Bragnan of Moms for Liberty, Shawn Hyland of the New Jersey Family Policy Center, Matt Rooney of SaveJersey, a news site, and Marie Tasy of New Jersey Right to Life.
