Former Trenton City Council Candidate Atalaya Armstrong Endorses Jasi Mikae Edwards for Mayor

TRENTON, NJ — Atalaya Armstrong, former Trenton City Council candidate and public policy advocate, announces her endorsement of Jasi Mikae Edwards for Mayor of Trenton in the November 3, 2026 election.

"My first awareness of Jasi came during the 2020 movement to remove Trenton's Christopher Columbus statue. I was impressed by her courage and willingness to challenge the status quo. I've always believed that batons are meant to be passed to the next generation."

Armstrong cited Edwards' knowledge of redevelopment, commitment to protecting Trenton Water Works, and proposal for day-one audits across City Hall departments as important factors in her decision.

She also highlighted Edwards' public safety advocacy, including her City Hall rally calling for greater police protection following gatherings near NJ Weedman's restaurant, and her willingness to speak out following the Department of Justice's findings concerning the Trenton Police Department.

"Residents deserve both public safety and constitutional policing. Accountability cannot be selective."

Armstrong emphasized Edwards' willingness to listen, collaborate across political differences, and address Trenton's longstanding challenges.

"We repeatedly say it's time for change, yet too often return to the very status quo we claim to oppose. Change must be more than a campaign slogan."

Armstrong concluded:

"My endorsement does not mean blind loyalty. I will continue asking questions, making demands, and holding elected officials accountable, including those I support. My commitment remains with the people of Trenton."
