SEIU Labor All in with Bennett at Rahway Rally

RAHWAY - Backing CD-7 Congressional candidate Rebecca Bennett, the workers on Saturday showed up in force at this tough, blue-collar battleground town.
At the core of a national day of action, affiliates of SEIU, 1199, 32BJ and Workers United, expressed their strong support for Bennett, who wants to defeat embattled incumbent U.S. Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-7).
U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez and Senate President Nick Scutari showed up to lend their voices to Bennett's cause. "We're taking back the majority," said Menendez, who reminded those in attendance of how the cruel immigration policies of President Donald Trump continue to rip apart working families.
"Here in CD-7, there's been someone who hasn't fought for the people of his district," Menendez. "Tom Kean is not a fighter. Tom Kean is not someone who stands up for his community. But Rebecca Bennett is."
At the rally, workers spoke, too, about their struggles in Trump's economy and the ongoing affordability crisis.
Kean, Bennett said, has been in missing in action.
"No one is coming to save us, we've got to save ourselves," said the Democratic challenger. "We've got to leave it all out on the field."
