Gloucester Township Republican Municipal Committee Demands Full Accountability on Non-Citizen Voter Registration Scandal

Gloucester Township, NJ (July 21, 2026) — The Gloucester Township Republican Municipal Committee strongly condemns Governor Mikie Sherrill’s latest attempt to spin and deflect responsibility for the Motor Vehicle Commission’s failure that erroneously registered approximately 6,600 non-citizens to vote in New Jersey.

In her statement, Governor Sherrill blames the previous administration, claims credit for “fixing” the problem after the fact, and launches partisan attacks on President Trump and Republicans — the very voices who have been sounding the alarm on election vulnerabilities for years.

“This is classic obfuscation,” said Chairwoman Elizabeth Pfeffer. “Non-citizens who openly answered ‘no’ to the citizenship question were still added to our voter rolls under Democratic leadership. Now, instead of taking full responsibility, the Governor is shifting blame while trying to discredit those who were right all along. New Jersey deserves better.”

The NJGOP Election Integrity Task Force previously uncovered hundreds of non-citizens on our state’s voter rolls, describing it as just the tip of the iceberg. Recent federal reviews have highlighted even larger numbers of potential issues in New Jersey. Enough with the excuses.

The Gloucester Township Republican Municipal Committee demands immediate action:

• Require voter ID at the polls without delay to restore public confidence.
• Fully audit and clean the voter rolls of all ineligible registrations.
• Implement strict proof of citizenship requirements for voter registration.
• End the practice of automatic or error-prone registrations through the MVC.
• Provide full transparency to the public on the scope of the failure, including when it was first known and how many improper ballots were cast.

“Election integrity is not optional — it is the foundation of our Constitutional Republic,” added Chairwoman Pfeffer. “Every legal vote must count, and only legal votes must count. Partisan spin and finger-pointing undermine the trust of hardworking New Jersey families. We will continue fighting for secure, fair elections where every eligible citizen’s voice is protected.”
