HCDO CHAIR GUY STATEMENT ON WATSON COLEMAN

 HUDSON COUNTY – Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Craig Guy issued the following statement in reaction to yesterday’s news that Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman will not be running for reelection.

“Bonnie Watson Coleman has been a towering figure in New Jersey politics for more years than I even care to remember.  The Congresswoman has always been guided by her values, and those values have helped her break down barriers and become one of the strongest progressive voices in the country.”

“Bonnie’s long career serving the public has seen her take the lead in trying to combat poverty, achieve financial and health equity and realize reform in our criminal justice system.  She has been a consistent and effective voice against the Trump Administration’s oppressive policies, culminating in her efforts to raise awareness of the conditions at Delaney Hall this summer, and I’m sure that fight will continue throughout the remainder of her term.”

“Bonnie Watson Coleman will be greatly missed by many of us when she retires but her legacy of service will carry forward and the work she has done will have an impact on generations to come.”
