Linden Councilman Eloy Delgado Wins Reelection, Outpolls Booker and Bennett in Sixth Ward
LINDEN, N.J. — Sixth Ward Councilman Eloy Delgado won reelection to the Linden City Council Tuesday night, finishing as the top vote-getter in his ward and outpolling prominent Democrats at the top of the ticket, including U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Congresswoman-elect Rebecca Bennett.
According to unofficial results, Delgado received 832 votes in the Sixth Ward, compared with 760 for Booker and 760 for Bennett.
Delgado’s strong showing in the November 3 general election underscores his support among Sixth Ward residents and his ability to connect with voters at the neighborhood level.
Delgado was appointed to the City Council in January 2025 and won election that November to complete the unexpired term. Tuesday’s victory secures his first full term representing the Sixth Ward, where he has focused on constituent services and neighborhood concerns.
“To say I am honored, humbled, and appreciative would be a complete understatement,” said Delgado. “Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters voted for me and I do not take it for granted. I have been in your homes. I have heard your stories, and many of you have heard mine. No one is ever entitled to a seat and we must work every day on your behalf.”
Delgado added, “I will continue showing up and being present. I will continue to advocate for our ward in every space and at every level. I will continue to relentlessly pursue a positive agenda for the 6th Ward and the City of Linden.”
