Incumbent U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D) of Newark destroyed Republican challenger Carmen Bucco, dealing a loss to the forces of President Donald J. Trump.

From the Associated Press:

McIver: 87%.

Bucco: 13%.

There's a bit of a back story here.

Trump pardoned the Jan. 6th insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol, resulting in the death of a New Jersey police officer. Then his Justice Department tried to make McIver - who was doing her job at Delaney Hall - look like an enemy of law and order, when she tried to defend Mayor Ras Baraka, who was similarly trying to serve his constituency while surrounded by armed men in masks.

McIver's case is pending.

Meanwhile, tonight she steamrolled the GOP's ill-laid - and completely preposterous - plan.
