Mejia Endorsed by Teamsters Joint Council 73 in NJ-11 Special Election

Today, Analilia Mejia, Democratic nominee for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of Teamsters Joint Council 73. The union represents freight, package delivery, warehouse, and public service workers across New Jersey.

"We know that Analilia will fight for workers when she gets to Congress because she’s been fighting for workers her entire life," said Alphonse Rispoli Jr., President of Teamsters Joint Council 73. "She came up as a union organizer, she took on fights in Trenton that other people walked away from, and she won. Our members need that kind of fighter in Washington right now. We’re proud to endorse her."

“I’m proud to stand with the Teamsters in the fight to make our economy work for working people,” said Analilia Mejia. “Teamster members do hard work that keeps our state moving, and when I get to Congress, I'm going to make sure they have a seat at the table. We’re going to pass the PRO Act and the Faster Labor Contracts Act to protect collective bargaining, and make sure workers have fair wages and fair contracts."

Analilia Mejia spent a decade as a union organizer with 32BJ SEIU, UFCW, and UNITE HERE before leading New Jersey's successful campaigns for a $15 minimum wage and universal earned sick days.

Analilia Mejia's campaign has earned broad support from organized labor, including 32BJ SEIU, 1199 SEIU, the SEIU NJ State Council, CWA District 1, CWA Local 1037, AFSCME, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, the National Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association, the Amalgamated Transit Union, National Nurses United, the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), and Rutgers AAUP-AFT and the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union.

The special general election for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District is Thursday, April 16.
