NJ-7 County Chairs Welcome Rebecca Bennett's Call for Debates in Every County

SOMERVILLE, NJ — The Democratic county chairs representing the Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Warren and Union applaud congressional candidate Rebecca Bennett's commitment to holding six public debates — one in each county of the district — and join in to calls for Congressman Tom Kean Jr. to finally show up and face his constituency rather than dodging opportunities to meet with the residents and voters of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. 

“Every community deserves an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to represent them in Congress. Public debates are a cornerstone of our democracy, providing voters with the chance to evaluate each candidate's positions on the issues that matter most to working families, including affordability, healthcare, public education, infrastructure, and government accountability. Even before Tom Kean Jr. went missing for 116 days, he has continually avoided taking a stand on issues, preferring to hide from his constituents. 

“Despite missing 142 votes in 2026, Tom Kean Jr. has made one thing abundantly clear with his voting record: He refuses to stand up to the Trump administration on behalf of New Jersey. Tom Kean Jr. knows his record of supporting MAGA extremism is indefensible, and so do the constituents he represents, which is why he has failed to hold a single town hall in four years to update residents on his record in Congress or defend the Trump and Washington Republicans' disastrous agenda that drives up costs for New Jerseyans. 

“We hope that Tom Kean Jr. will accept these challenges, come to our counties, and explain why he has voted in lockstep with the Trump administration at every turn as they jack up prices and attempt to shred the Constitution.”
