Passaic County Awards Contract to Oasis, Inc. to Provide Soup Kitchen Services for Homeless Residents

Funding through the Community Block Services Grant supports one of the region's most critical safety net programs

PATERSON, N.J. — The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners has approved a contract with Oasis, Inc. — A Haven for Women and Children to provide soup kitchen services to homeless residents across the county in 2026.

The contract is funded through the Community Block Services Grant and reflects the county's ongoing commitment to supporting residents most in need.

"Nobody in Passaic County should go without a meal," said Passaic County Commissioner Director Sandi Lazzara. "Oasis has been a lifeline for some of our most vulnerable neighbors and this contract helps make sure that work doesn't stop."

Oasis, Inc. — A Haven for Women and Children is a nonprofit organization serving homeless and at-risk individuals and families in the Passaic County area. In addition to soup kitchen services, Oasis provides shelter, advocacy and wraparound support to women and children fleeing difficult circumstances.

The Community Block Services Grant is one of the tools Passaic County uses to direct resources toward human services organizations that provide direct, on-the-ground support to residents experiencing homelessness and poverty.
