Reports: Money Yanked from Flailing Kean

Top national Republican groups are siphoning money from U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr.’s competitive re-election race in New Jersey while marshaling resources elsewhere, a potential warning sign that the party is feeling less confident about its ability to hold the seat.
The Congressional Leadership Fund and President Donald Trump’s super PACs are redirecting advertising funds meant for Kean’s race and Iowa Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’s race to other districts, after internal Republican polling showed that their re-election chances had dimmed, according to a New York Times report Tuesday.
It marks the first time the groups have cut off money to Republican House incumbents, three weeks before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, as the party aims to prevent more sweeping losses in the House as Democrats seek to gain control of the chamber.
