Ron Bautista Submits Over 500 Signatures to Get on Ballot for Hudson County Commissioner

Ron Bautista files to run for Hudson County Commissioner under the “Working Families Democrat” slogan

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Community advocate Ron Bautista filed 513 petition signatures today to secure his spot on the June 2 primary ballot for Hudson County Commissioner in District 5, covering Hoboken and the Jersey City waterfront.

Running under the “Working Families Democrat” slogan, Ron Bautista is running with a broad coalition of support, including early endorsements from the New Jersey Working Families Party, Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla (D-Hoboken), Assemblywoman Katie Brennan (D-Jersey City), and Jersey City Ward E Councilwoman Eleana Little.

"County government has real power to improve people’s lives, and I’m running to make sure we’re using all of it,” said Ron Bautista. “We need streets that are safe whether you're 7 years old or in your 70s, affordable housing so families can afford to stay here, and a county that protects immigrants instead of looking the other way. I want to thank everyone who helped get us here, from our team of volunteers to all the neighbors who signed our petitions.”

Ron Bautista is a community organizer based in Hoboken who has spent the last 15 years building coalitions around street safety, housing affordability, and immigrants' rights. A longtime advocate for complete streets and pedestrian safety, Bautista has pledged to refuse developer money and is running a grassroots people-powered campaign.

The Democratic primary election is on June 2, 2026.
