Stewart Announces Marroquin, Berrocal as Deputy Directors of Community Outreach
PATERSON, NJ — Today, Assemblyman Kenyatta Stewart (D-Bergen, Passaic) announced the appointment of Jorge Marroquin and Jessica Berrocal as Deputy Directors of Community Outreach. Marroquin will lead outreach initiatives within the Hispanic community, while Berrocal will oversee outreach efforts within the Arab community to ensure both communities have direct access to resources, services, and representation.
“Jorge and Jessica both understand what it means to meet people where they are,” said Assemblyman Stewart. “By focusing their efforts within the Hispanic and Arab communities, respectively, they will help ensure our office remains accessible, responsive, and connected to the residents we serve.”
Marroquin is a longtime community leader and entrepreneur with deep roots in Paterson. With more than two decades of experience in business and over six years of organizing cultural and civic events, he has played a key role in bringing communities together, including coordinating events and serving in leadership roles within local organizations. Marroquin has also worked in organizing cultural events, supporting community-based initiatives, and engaging residents through grassroots outreach.
“It is an honor to work with Assemblyman Kenyatta Stewart,” said Deputy Director Marroquin. “As a member of the Hispanic community, I am proud to know that he is aware of our challenges and is working diligently to address the issues that matter most to us. This opportunity will allow me to work with the Assemblyman and his team to help deliver his vision to the people of the 35th District.”
Berrocal brings over eight years of experience in community outreach, client coordination, and campaign operations. She has managed large-scale outreach efforts and overseen databases of thousands of contacts. Berrocal’s background includes managing high-volume outreach campaigns, coordinating enrollment and community programs, and supporting civic initiatives across New Jersey and New York.
“I’m honored to join Assemblyman Stewart’s team and serve the residents of District 35,” said Deputy Director Berrocal. “As someone deeply connected to the community, I’m committed to strengthening outreach within the Arab community to ensure families have access to the resources, support, and representation they deserve. I look forward to working closely with residents and building meaningful connections that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
In their new roles, Marroquin and Berrocal will focus on expanding community engagement, coordinating outreach initiatives, and strengthening partnerships with local organizations to ensure residents across all communities have a voice in Trenton.
“These appointments reflect our commitment to building a team that represents and understands the diverse communities of District 35,” Stewart added. “We are focused on delivering real results and making sure every resident feels heard and supported.”
