The Citizen Service Names Rashawn Davis as Executive Director to Lead National Expansion
Metuchen, NJ (May 6, 2026)-The Citizen Service today announced Rashawn Davis as executive director, charged with propelling its national expansion. Rashawn will lead a team dedicated to building an America where all are provided with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to work with fellow citizens to better their community and their nation. By enlisting Americans from coast to coast in the Citizen Service, our nation will be infused with vital missing ingredients: citizen-driven, solution-focused leadership and the forging of common ground.
Founded in 1997 as The Citizens Campaign, The Citizen Service empowers Americans across the country with No-Blame, Leadership training to advance solutions in their hometowns. The mission is to inspire Americans to live the values of mutual respect, pragmatism, and unselfish service by pointing the way to respectful problem-solving rather than pointing fingers and sowing division.
“Rashawn’s leadership style and vision align perfectly with The Citizen Service’s mission and values,” said Harry Pozycki, founder and chair of The Citizen Service. “Rashawn will help lead us towards new horizons, igniting a nationwide movement to tap the common sense and ingenuity of Americans beginning in their hometowns, which is essential to rejuvenating our democracy.”
“I’m eager to put my experience to work, taking the Citizen Service to scale and achieving bold national impact,” added Rashawn Davis. “As we mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation, it is essential to honor our founding ideals by revitalizing our democracy with the new energy and ideas that can only come from its citizens.”
Rashawn will lead the national expansion of The Citizen Service movement, growing its presence across the more than 1,000 community colleges in America in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday. Community colleges serve as vital community anchors and natural hubs for civic engagement and finding common ground. He will also focus on strengthening partnerships with youth and faith-based organizations, as well as other institutions that recognize the value of citizen-driven, solution-oriented engagement.
Beginning in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey, as one of the youngest people ever certified for a municipal election ballot, Rashawn Davis has built a value-driven career that prioritizes advancing equity and democracy for all. He also served as a commissioner on the Newark Civilian Complaint Review Board.
Most recently, he was the Executive Director of the Andrew Goodman Foundation, named after the Civil Rights activist who paid the ultimate price in the tireless pursuit of a better America. Under his leadership, Rashawn helped the organization strengthen ties with campus communities across the country and mobilize young people for elections and civic engagement. Rashawn holds a master’s degree from NYU’s Wagner School and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. He publishes articles and interviews on his Substack blog, Pulse Check.
