WATSON COLEMAN CONGRATULATES DR. ADAM HAMAWY ON DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VICTORY

EWING – Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman released the following statement congratulating Dr. Adam Hamawy on his victory in Tuesday night’s primary and calling on democrats throughout the district to offer their support to his campaign in advance of November 3rd’s general election:

“For the last six months, I’ve watched over a dozen committed public servants and community leaders, many of whom I have had the honor to call long-time friends, leave everything they had on the field in a difficult campaign to be our next Representative in the 12th Congressional District.

I congratulate Dr. Hamawy on his hard fought campaign focused on healthcare, affordability, and an economy that works for all. The fight to protect our democracy against the Trump Administration requires everyone’s participation and we now need to mobilize our neighbors and resources to help him get elected on November 3rd.

Primary campaigns, like the one we just witnessed in the 12th Congressional District, are not easy for all involved, but it prepares one for what comes next. In a world where the current Trump Administration spews inherent racism, xenophobia and misogyny, or tramples on our basic constitutional rights without explanation or reason, the 12th Congressional District needs someone battle tested to stand and fight for them. President Trump and his MAGA Republican friends do not care about societal norms, they do not care about political niceties and, oftentimes, they do not even care about the law. With the primary campaign over, voters have chosen Dr Hamawy to be that candidate to lead the fight on those frontlines as our Congressman next January.

Whether it is the atrocities I’ve witnessed firsthand at Delaney Hall, or Trump illegally handing his friends our money, or the weekly choice between filling your gas tank or buying groceries, the fight we are in carries real consequences for everyone.

The fight we find ourselves in will not be won tomorrow, but it can certainly be lost if we do not stand together.  I know Dr.Hamawy can count on me, we simply have too much to lose.”
