ZACK MULLOCK WINS DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY IN NEW JERSEY’S SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Cape May Mayor Advances to General Election to Take on Jeff Van Drew

CAPE MAY, NJ — Tuesday, Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock won the Democratic primary for New Jersey’s Second Congressional District, thanking supporters across South Jersey and launching his general election campaign against Congressman Jeff Van Drew.

“Voters across South Jersey made clear today that they’re ready for new leadership that will actually fight for working people and stand up to the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington,” Mullock said. “I’m deeply grateful to every volunteer, supporter, and voter who believed in this campaign. Together we are building a movement of people who refuse to be left behind and are coming together to make our voices heard, based on hope and unity.”

Mullock, who has served as Mayor of Cape May for seven years without raising taxes, ran on a message focused on lowering costs for working families, defending democracy, and restoring independent leadership to South Jersey.

“As Mayor, I’ve worked across party lines to make our town one of the finest destinations in America. We need that same can-do spirit in Congress to move our country back in the right direction,” Mullock continued. “Meanwhile, Jeff Van Drew has spent years putting special interests ahead of South Jersey families. While our cost-of-living has skyrocketed, Van Drew continues to back policies that threaten healthcare, reproductive rights, and Social Security while doing nothing to make life more affordable for the people he represents. I will fight for South Jersey, not slash and burn Medicare and Medicaid.”

Throughout the primary campaign, Mullock emphasized his record of tangible results, including securing long-delayed federal funding for Cape May’s seawall project and governing with a pragmatic, community-first approach.

“South Jersey deserves a representative who shows up, tells the truth, and fights for us — not another career politician who changes parties to protect himself politically,” Mullock said. “This campaign is about standing up to corruption, lowering costs, and making sure working families can actually get ahead again.”

The Mullock campaign enters the general election with strong grassroots momentum and support from leaders across New Jersey and the country who view New Jersey’s Second Congressional District as one of the key battlegrounds in the fight to take back the House of Representatives.
