The Return of Newark’s (Jermaine) James

James. Jermaine James.

The political guru from Booker world wants the win for Flo Johnson in the worst way, a source told InsiderNJ.

The veteran James – formerly a fierce antagonist of Mayor Sharpe James (no relation) – is running Johnson’s campaign, and must contend with the Election Day hi-jinks of Ras Baraka allies who want Patricia Bradford over Johnson.

Johnson has the support of the charter school movement, and James is trying to complement the advantage he has with air war money by putting together a convincing Election Day ground war.

Weather played a factor in the School Board election, sources agree, as the city comes up on the 8 p.m. deadline for voting.

Light.

The turnout is light.

“It’s light in the senior buildings,” a source told InsiderNJ. “It’s light in the senior buildings in the central ward. If the seniors haven’t voted now they’re not coming down. If we get a late deluge, it’s over. Maybe a few more voters in the north, a sprinkling in the east.”
