Rev. Collins Days Appointed to Atlantic County Board of County Commissioners

| (ATLANTIC CITY) This evening, the Atlantic County Democratic Committee unanimously appointed Reverend Collins Days, Sr. to fill the late Ernest Coursey’s seat on the Atlantic County Board of County Commissioners.
“It is a true honor to join the Board of County Commissioners,” Rev. Days said. “I will hit the ground running to represent the residents of Absecon Island in county government, and I look forward to seeking election to a full term on November 4.” Rev. Days will be sworn in during the Board’s meeting on Tuesday, September 2. “Ernest Coursey was a dear friend and one of the first to encourage me to run for office,” he added. “While he leaves large shoes to fill, I intend to continue his legacy of effective public service.” Rev. Days has led Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City for three decades, building it into one of the region’s largest congregations with more than 2,000 members from across South Jersey. In 2021, he was approved by both Republicans and Democrats to serve on the Stockton University Board of Trustees. He is also a board member of the Mosaic Foundation (formerly Seashore Gardens). Beyond the pulpit, Days leads or works closely with several local nonprofits addressing drug addiction and recovery, expanding homeownership for lower‑income residents, and mentoring at‑risk youth. He is a past president of the Fellowship of Churches of Atlantic City & Vicinity and served on the Atlantic City Long Term Recovery Group, which helped Absecon Island residents rebuild after Hurricane Sandy. Rev. Days and his wife live in Atlantic City. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
