Scutari Announces Bid for Senate Prez for 2026-2027 Term

Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari (D-22) today announced his intention to run for re-election for another term as President of the State Senate following the November 2025 general elections. First elected by the full chamber in January 2022 and re-elected this past January, Scutari and the Senate Democratic Leadership have ushered in historic property tax relief programs, protected women’s reproductive freedoms, and fought for fair funding levels for our schools, according to Scutari.

“With no state Senate elections, the Democratic caucus has seen fit to continue on with the same leadership. We are in unprecedented times where elections will soon dictate control of the White House, our Congress, the Governor’s Office, and the General Assembly,” said the sitting Senate President. “I am proud of the accomplishments of our leadership team, our Senate body as a whole. I look forward to keeping our priorities focused on the issues directly affecting our families and communities, and along with my team, provide the steady and stable leadership needed for the coming term. I am deeply honored to have the support of so many members of my caucus and continue the great work of our leadership team which includes Majority Leader Ruiz and Senators Sarlo, Turner, Pou and Singleton.”

  1. Time for new leadership. Scutari needs to be removed. He’s as corrupt as his own party is. He’s withheld public hearings, in violation of the state constitution and legislative rules, thus ramming through bad legislation for NJ taxpayers’ as a result. He’s withheld hearings on other public officials like judges, by covering up when they’re supposed to be heard. He’s given NO NOTICE to the public, as required by law and rules, and rams through these corrupt public officials.
Scutari has passed laws that favor him as a lawyer and politician, as well as favor his buddies in the Bar Association–at cost to NJ taxpayers rights!!!!

Scutari is a fraud and a corrupt politician. Time for him to go!!!

  2. Leave Nick alone he is a good public servant and represent the residents in a proper manner. Its tough in the back halls making decisions .

  3. Is endorsing Scutari for Senate President this early meant to sway other non-endorsing senators to decide to not explore placing themselves in contention for being the next senate president? It seems that Health Committee Chairman Joe Vitale has a problem with Scutari not allowing him to post cannabis patient homegrow bill S1393 for an informational for the past 2 years, 8 months, 1 week, and six days. Scutari is making his power play to remain senate president until 2028 early in this legislative session, and his “supporters” know that not supporting him could very well negatively their own standing in the senate. Support or else. Scutari will do whatever he needs to do to run for governor himself in 2028.
